Poppy in the Fading Light

This painting is based on a photo that I snapped of a poppy on Memorial Drive in Calgary back in early August 2019 and it stuck in my mind until I was able to set it down in paint. The evening light that fell so precisely on this single poppy was also so incredibly fleeting. It is easy to forget that all moments in life are like this. Fleeting, precious and then gone.
