I fell in love with Carnovsky’s RGB installation during my visit to Cooper Hewitt some time ago. The idea of several layers of images superimposed and only visible through certain light is simple and known, but very pleasing to the eyes. 

 

I wanted to recreate this effect with my fascination of patterns inspired by the Memphis Group. Their pattern influenced the era of zany designs during the late eighties and early nineties. It is still an iconic pattern to springboard newer ideas.

 

For the past few years, I’ve been obsessed with motivational phrases. It’s helped me get through the toughest moments and remind me of positive ones too.

 

I decided to use three very common, but equally inspiring phrases: Don’t give up, Follow your heart, and It will happen. The following images show the phrases under different colored lighting (Blue, Green, and Red) and printed on satin paper with cyan, magenta, and yellow. the last image is my current living room setup.
