27-29 June 2017
Summary

- Poster no. 1 from my research at the Alzheimer's Disease Genetics Laboratory, The University of Adelaide.
- Highlighting results from initial RNA-seq differential gene expression analyses of mutant zebrafish models.
- This poster won the Best Poster Award out of 36 entrants at the MOHHA conference, 2017.

Design Notes

The scope of work presented at MOHHA focuses mainly on biologically interesting results from the use of animal disease models. Most of the audience is not as familiar with bioinformatics, so I approached the design of this poster with that in mind.

The Introduction, Aim, and description of heatmaps in the Results section are meant to be able to be understood by a broad audience. Further details relating to methods/bioinformatics are provided in the top half of the poster which summarise the main steps and rationale of the analysis.

While the poster was very well received, looking back on the design now, I feel that the design is overly busy and only works well in person to explain the different steps involved. My more recent posters have worked on simplifying the flow to make it easier for others to follow the main story contained in the poster by themselves.
