Dan Andrei's faux-audio cassette EP

I'm constantly seeking new ways to display my work even if a project doesn't look like too much of a challenge or it doesn't have that feeling of "something new".

One of my friends asked me to make an artwork for his first digital release on Bandcamp. All I could do was to search for a photo in my folders that would express his vision on the release. I applied some color correction to the image and gave it a bit of a clean and that would have been the project.

It should have ended there, but after sending the artwork to its rightful owner, I decided to take this a bit further. I couldn't stop thinking about how the artwork would look and feel if the album were to be released on cassette tape. This led me to create my own environment in 3D with models I've built from scratch.

I used Blender 2.8 to model the objects, render and compose all the scenes below. There were a lot of polygons, vertices, edges to move around and UVs to unwrap (not to mention the shader nodes), but it was worth the time and the effort. I am thinking to convert this project into a mock-up pack in the near future.

Check out this release on Bandcamp!

Thank you!
