Free Yourself! - gypsum sculpture

Free yourself!

There are relationships and issues that put as down, ties us and won't let us alone.
You want to get away, but you cannot. They drag behind you and cling you like a spider silk. The harder you try to break free, the worse. It may have finally succeeded but
at what cost? Will this give you a real freedom? Or is it just an illusion?

The aim of the work was to visualize the human's stuck and his inner need of freedom.
The sculpture was made using a plaster technique with the use of steel bars and tows.
I used my own face cast making it my self-portrait.

This piece is meant to provoke the viewer to react on an emotional level and to reflect on what is a limitation for him and perhaps to question the legitimacy of this feeling of being bound. It happens that what in our minds was an insurmountable obstacle turned out to be only seemingly difficult. Time shows us the lack of sense in the past cultivating the feeling of being trapped. Are all our inner limitations justified then?
