High Point University AIGA student chapter holds a design week every year for the students to participate in. The events include a keynote speaker, workshops, and a sticker sale. The president of the club asked me to create shirts and posters to promote the events and encourage the club members to participate.

The designs every year are based on and inspired by the keynote speaker. This year’s speaker is known for his typographic logos that are usually in a woodblock inspired font. I created a woodblock poster design for both the shirt and the poster. Since woodblock posters are antique, I used antique or aged colors in a scheme from rust to orange. I used four fonts in different weights, heights, and widths to fill the space. I played with tracking and stretching to really make it look like I had to fill all the space in the design. I also used a couple design elements to break up the text.
Font Families: Fatboy, Hoosier Daddy, Gothic Open Shaded, and
French Claredon Ornamented
