PAGKADAOT: A TALE OF URBAN JUNGLES AND MOTHER'S BEFOULMENT

Pagkadaot is a Cebuano term which means ‘inflicted damage’. This is a narrative-driven art exhibit showcasing the conditions of classical Filipino mythical creatures intertwining with environmental crises ranging from man-made to rural concerns over terrains, air and water. This theme defines the sculpture, traditional and digital illustrations, diorama, and terrariums featured in the exhibit made by 2nd year Fine Arts students of Far Eastern University.

To showcase the talent of my amazing blockmates, here are some works from the other series in the Pagkadaot Art Exhibit

SANTELMO by Jeroe Delasan and TIYANAK by Bea Olaivar from Monster Series (Digital and Traditional paintings), PAGPUPUMIGLAS by Iza Luzuriaga from the Embroidery Series featuring Engkantos and Tamawos, and MAYARI by Anthony Rugas III from the Stained-glass Series feauturing the various deities from the Philippines.

As the book of Pagkadaot officially closes, we would like to thank everyone who helped and supported us in making and bringing these stories to life. To everyone who visited the exhibit, may the works and the stories behind them make an impact and serve its true purpose: to make us realize the damage we have done to the environment.

The stories of  Pagkadaot do not end here—the fight against environmental injustice continues!

Respectfully yours with sincere gratitude,
The Pagkadaot team 🧚‍♀️
