Bennett Bär lernt Deutsch is a book for six to nine-year-olds who are learning German. The book can be used at home or in Immersion schools.  I have written, illustrated, and printed this book. The illustrations are vitally important because they are used as translations, rather than using English or any other language. I believe using imagery removes a step in the cognitive process of translating between languages. For example, showing a child an apple rather than saying “apple” to “Apfel”. This also gives the book the ability to have the user start from any original language.
