The role of public libraries in society is evolving due to the continuous development of new technologies that support the dissemination of knowledge. As part of my Master Thesis and together with the staff from Hisingen’s Library in Gothenburg, I have developed a concept for an interactive installation to help bridge the gap between the traditional physical library and new digital technologies and resources.

The concept takes in consideration the use of physical resources and digital resources, since they are becoming more widely available at libraries. It provides users with physical representations of tags that can be used to navigate the space in the library and filter resources.

The exploration was marked by a careful study of the context and a consideration of various alternaties with the goal of linking the physical and digital spaces of the library in order to allow users to experience them both and give them the same value.
