A child safety latch for kitchen drawers and cupboards designed to be easily operated by adults (even the eldery) due to its large paddle operation. When in place, the drawer will only open slightly and will not reclose as a preventative measure to ensure children do not trap their fingers. The latch can be easily disengaged by adults by moving the arm in a lateral direction; a subtle feature that children will find very difficult to work out themselves.
This project was the result of a real brief given to students at the University of Nottingham from a local family run business, Clippasafe. I have created my design visuals based on their branding to give maximum impact.
