The Experimental Promenade

a promenade of bilaterality

This project examines the possibility of experiencing the same spaces in both ends of the solid-void dichotomy, presenting alternative experiences within a limited circulation.

Along the non-directed circulation of the promenade, the architecture often looks solid from an orientation but reveals the bigger space encompassed within from another direction, which provides the “alternative experience” for the user. Hence, it entices the user to project such duality of space onto other fragments of the architecture, which could lead to a potential exploration of spaces beyond reach.
Sprouting from the usage of minimal planar compositions to create deceptively solid volumes, the solidity of the architecture is reinforced when the varying thickness dissolves itself into the vertical ground, acting almost as a camouflage. Here the abstruse boundary between tectonic elements and vertical, light facades is experienced at its fullest.
