Objective
- To create at least 2 bespoke luggage tag designs.
- A description of your approach.
- Any sketches or initial ideas that didn't make the cut!
____
Approach
My approach to this brief was to create luggage tags for places that I've been to in the past and have a personal connection too.
- First I did light a quick sketches of what first came to mind when thinking about Australia such as animals, destinations and cities.
- Secondly was the shape of the tag itself and how everything would fit into the tag.
- Third was getting the pieces into a digital format.
- Lastly was to put the pieces into a mock up.
I started the digital process with the mindset of animals since Australia is currently is going through a crisis with animal population. The koala and kangaroo are staple of Australia and I wanted to blend them into the black and white look.
I originally thought that a black and white tag would be different from others but ended up just looking bland without colour. That means these pieces were ruled out.
I used Illustrator to create this block like art digitally by using a feature called Image Trace.
This was used as I felt it allows the eye to focus on the art more rather than it just being a photo.
I did this process twice for each location, one black and white and one colour and merged then together to create better contrast.
Text was added next, with the 3 letter airport code for the city and a flight number location.
