The Experiment: Posca Tusche?

Since, the Lithograph 20: The Stone Age Gene proved to be a resounding success with using Posca, I figured why not see how the tusche from it might work like.

I got alcohol as the base solvent, and I mixed in large glops of Posca marks on the stone and spread them around with it. It was way too much fun than it should have been, and I liked the stone (as I always actually really do like my stone drawings just before disaster strikes).

The Usual Routine: So, like the previous stone, this one dried as a beautiful light design on the stone, which disappeared about 90% on the first etch. So, it was given a banho sujo (asphalt and solvent vigorously worked on it and specific areas controlled by dynamite (strong acid).

Step by Step Rescue Mission: Here you can see how the original Posca Tusche (Pic1.)  completely erased (pic 2.). The rescue mission actually made it very dark and it had to be worked on with acids while printing (pic 3.). While the printed image (pic 4.) is not satisfactory, it does show that you can save your image to some extent.
The Take Away: If Posca is being used (or sharpie too), do not use any acids on the first etch, heat dry the rosin on the drawing, then add talc and then gum it as usual. If possible, wet the stone and ink it directly before the rosin, this adheres the ink to the Posca lines, which in term get stronger and will not disappear when you change Gum Arabic.

[In the Images above] : Also if you play around a bit, like just drop a very strong acid after second etch on your very dark revived Posca Tusche, you mighty see wonderful strange effects, like those uniformly spotted leaves in the last picture!
