Illustration and fashion are huge passions of mine so I combined them together in this personal journal! Part 1 are exact illustrations of 30 of my outfits and part 2 are my high-fashion reinterpretations of each outfit. The purpose of the project is to showcase my personal style as well as my designer side.

This is what I wore on Day 1 (the day the idea was born). I’m sporting my new Strokes tee which I got as an Xmas present. The reinterpretation has the shirt as a dress that’s mixed in with my knit bolero. Note the belt is now a bracelet among other changes! | Adobe Photoshop

Day 2  |  Buy print
I wore this ensemble back in the fall and it’s one of my favourites. With a petite hat fascinator, elegant cream top with slightly puffed sleeves, sweet-n-pink floral skirt and heeled brogues, what’s not to love?

For the reinterpretation, I cropped the top, made it more tailored with bits of the hat as sleeves and a bow-tie. The sleeves are now a Peter Pan collar with a slight puff. I turned the skirt into something I’ve yet to wear in real life: harem pants. As they’re somewhat of a hit-or-miss item, I tried my hand at it but didn’t go overboard and set the baggy mode to subtle. Lastly, the heeled brogues are now sneaker brogues!

Overall, I took a girl-meets-boy approach and channeled Agyness Deyn as my muse. Who else is more perfect for such a look? | Adobe Photoshop

Day 3  |  Buy print
My original outfit: grey shirt with white lace, black leather jacket, bow waist belt, pleated skirt with studded band, fishnets and oxfords. Reinterpretation: skirt as a pleated bustier, grey shirt is a dress with attached draping sleeves, leather jacket becomes leggings with fishnets, bow shape is applied as face makeup, white lace appears throughout, and shoes transform into studded wedges.

The reinterpretation amps up the theatrics and drama. The fiery red hair adds a bold punch next to a mostly black, grey and white ensemble. | Adobe Photoshop

Day 4 | Buy print
My original outfit: Black shirt with attached necklace embellishment, funky vest, feather hair clip, black and gold oversized faceted ring, acid wash jeans, navy and white knit leg warmers, and black leather knee high boots.

Reinterpretation: Feather hair clip is now a headdress, leg warmers become a neck warmer, acid wash jeans turn into a corset, ring becomes a military-style shoulder pad with diagonally draping chains, vest and shirt transform into a puffy skirt, and boots are shorter and heeled.

Day 5  |  Buy print
My original outfit: This is an ensemble I fondly wore on a trip to Montreal one summer. From head to toe: red hair clip, green tshirt, pearl necklace, brown plaid vest, red waist belt, brown a-line skirt with linear teal detailing, and red flats.

Reinterpretation: Green cape jacket with armholes and plaid shoulder patches (reworked from vest), red belt is now a headband, pearls as earrings, duo tone light brown gloves, mid-calf pencil skirt with differently angled teal detailing, red boots with metallic cream tips, and secretary style glasses for good measure. | Adobe Photoshop

Day 6  |  Buy print
My original outfit: I wore this while visiting Venice Beach for a boardwalk bike ride! It's a light and airy white top with billowing sleeves, mint waist belt, skinny jeans, sandals, pearl necklace with sunglasses and rosette pendent, and my favourite heart-shaped sunglasses.

Reinterpretation: I wanted a soft and romantic embodiment and based English doll Lily Cole as muse. The hearts take shape as a fanciful headdress, top retains the billowing aspect in a wide brimmed collar, skinny jeans become high-waisted denim shorts with rosette embellishment, mint belt is now mint tights, and sandals get a lift as platforms. | Adobe Photoshop

Day 7  |  Buy print
My original outfit: This monokini was fondly worn on the same LA trip as Day 6! It has a metallic pink splatter all-over pattern on black and I wore it while prancing around in Venice Beach.

Reinterpretation: I wanted a sporty / gymnastics revamp so now it's a bodysuit. Coco Rocha was my muse and I stayed with the pink and black theme with added zipper detailing. It feels like a chic wetsuit meets Tron. | Adobe Photoshop

Day 8  |  Buy print
My original outfit: I'm not the biggest fan of scarves but this emerald green number paired with a black and white tweed blazer is a combination that makes me happy. Also worn is a black shirt, sand coloured skinny jeans and the brown brogues (from Day 2) make a return.

Reinterpretation: The looseness of the scarf with the tailored blazer inspired this business casual meets hippie look. The skinny jeans are now a boyfriend blazer with cuffs from the black shirt, tweed blazer is now skinny cropped pants, the scarf is a headband / waistbelt, and the brogues are peep-toe heels. | Adobe Photoshop

Day 9  |  Buy print
My original outfit: One event I adore is The Clothing Show, which takes place twice yearly in Toronto. I got the top from a $5 bin of a vintage shop at the show and it's one of my favourite steals ever. Just check out the unique draping! I'm also sporting a polka dot mini skirt, a cameo necklace, black flats, and a feathered headband by one of my favourite designers and Toronto original Headmistress.

Reinterpretation: It felt necessary to do a dramatic transformation so I opted for a slightly avant garde billowing gown with similar elegant draping as in the original top. Model Mariacarla Boscono felt perfect for the look thanks to her out-of-this-world creature stunner of a face. Mini skirt is now an obi belt, feathers are now a bracelet, lace and necklace are now part of the headdress and makeup. The ensemble exuded a free-spirited energy so I left her bare feet. | Adobe Photoshop

Day 10  |  Buy print
My original outfit: Another number from my LA trip! It features some of my favourite pieces: romantic lace tank, black miniskirt, white cardigan, gold waist belt, a fedora I picked up on Venice beach, another headband by Headmistress, and something I love but seldom wear: nail polish (in a coral shade chosen especially for the trip).

Reinterpretation: French belle Noémie Lenoir was my muse and she's hip to trot in a bustier reworked from the tank top, cardigan and the fetching shade of coral. The miniskirt gains boyish charm as smartly pleated high-waisted dress pants with tapering at the bottom. The fedora and headband combo from the original assumes a second life as pretty flatforms, while the new hat is of the elegant floppy sun hat variety. Lastly, the necklace is now earrings and the feather from the headband is a brooch. | Adobe Photoshop

Day 11  |  Buy print
My original outfit: My Strokes shirt makes another appearance! This time I wore it with a cropped denim tie-dye jacket, a-line multiple plaid skirt from a thrift shop, red leather waist belt, blue studded wristband, gold chain necklace from Barcelona, red tights with black fishnets, and black leather knee-high boots.

Reinterpretation: The Strokes frontman Julian Casablancas himself was the inspiration and model Daria Werbowy played the role of muse. I wanted to infuse the thrifty and grungy rock 'n' roll look from his solo days as he rocked the embellished leather jacket and a particular pair of red corduroys pretty hard. So hard that I dressed one leg in mock-corduroy leggings and the other in leather! Every element from the original was mish-mashed into the revamp including the Strokes logo / chain as an ornate necklace, and a skirt comprised of studded belts. | Adobe Photoshop

Day 12  |  Buy print
My original outfit: I'm sporting a loose up-do, sheer light blue polka-dot blouse tucked in a grey jersey pencil skirt, blue waist belt with twin heart clasps, blue stockings and a pair of black and grey heels.

Reinterpretation: Since the outfit already oozed a retro vibe, I rolled with it and channeled a Mad Men inspired ensemble. (Former) plus size model Crystal Renn fit the bill of muse to a T and I extended the jersey material into a body hugging wrap dress. The bustier and stockings are reworkings of the shoes while the scarf and bracelet are reincarnations of the blouse. I topped it off by giving her a glam pompadour. | Adobe Photoshop

Day 13  |  Buy print
My original outfit: I'm out and about in a fedora, black tiger graphic tee with a scooped bottom, mock gemstone necklace, mint shorts, sparkly mid-calf tights, metallic bronze shoes, and a fringed handbag.

Reinterpretation: The inspiration is based on the one and only Lady Gaga. This is an avant garde take on the original using the same colours and essence. The tiger print and handbag elements are now part of a fascinator, the top takes on a geometric form and a surprise comes in the semi-transparent peek-a-boo upper part of the skirt, which is an homage to her pants-less days. Gaga's signature sky-high platforms and iconic "monster paw" finish the look. | Adobe Photoshop

Day 14  |  Buy print
My original outfit: This is one of my favourite floral dresses and I wore it with a black bow headband with mesh veiling, pearl necklace, satin gloves and sandals. I wore it on a day to the park and it made it that much more fun!

Reinterpretation: I turned the dress into a 60's mod mini-dress with geometric black stripes. The gloves are elongated and slightly tapered, the bow is exaggerated in size and now sits at the collar, and the pearls are reborn as a hair bow and embellishments on the new loafers. My muse was the uber mod model Peggy Moffitt. | Adobe Photoshop

Day 15 |  Buy print
Original outfit: I wore this outfit on Valentine's day. I'm decked out in an illustrated tee over a grey henley, red and black plaid skort with white suspenders, black leggings, red knitted socks, cream boots, and a red quilted bag.

Reinterpretation: I combined the suspenders and multiple bag handles into a decorative top over a bandeau top from the black leggings. The skirt is the product of combining the quilted bag, plaid and sock material. Grey henley becomes slit sleeves and the full-length platform boots are reinvented from the tee. The oversized hair bow is reminiscent of the cream boots and a cotton candy afro completes the whimsical look. | Adobe Photoshop

Day 16  |  Buy print
Original outfit: This is a look I wore when winter was turning to spring. I'm sporting a vintage beige peacoat, black and white striped shirt, lacy skirt, olive stockings and my trusty brogues.

Reinterpretation: I created a full-length evening dress from the palette and textures of the original. I also added extra detailing such as the waistline cutouts and hip-side striped pockets. | Adobe Photoshop

Day 17  |  Buy print
Original outfit: I'm chilling in a long white shirt under a denim vest, tie dye skinny jeans, black leather boots, oversized sunglasses, an owl necklace and peacock feather as finishing touches.

Reinterpretation: This outfit translated well into an androgynous revamp and who else but model Omahyra Mota could rock such a look? She's looking fierce in her signature short hair, a tie dye and denim loose fitting shirt, white skinny jeans, black leather wrist cuff and converse shoes. The owl now has a cheeky placement on the breast pocket and the necklace and peacock feather make for a fetching chain. | Adobe Photoshop

Day 18  |  Buy print
My original outfit: Another outfit featuring a chic hippie stretch headband by Headmistress. The rest of the outfit is mostly pretty in pink starting with a tank top with mustard frills worn over a pink long sleeve lace shirt, cream faux fur shawl with crown and kitten brooches, brown pleated shorts, pink tights and beige boots.

Reinterpretation: With all the pink, lace and fur it felt perfect to channel an old Hollywood feel. The faux fur shawl is now a hand muff, shorts become a capelet with mustard frill detailing, tank top is a silky dress with lace trims, and the crown brooch is part of a necklace. Model Natalia Vodianova had the perfect ingenue sensibility to bring this look to life. | Adobe Photoshop

Day 19  |  Buy print
My original outfit: This was styled around another fine feather headdress by Headmistress. I'm being a free spirit in an indigo dress with beaded embellishments, funky makeup, woven waist belt, eclectic bracelets, zigzag print stockings, and another appearance from the trusty brogue heels.

Reinterpretation: My first revamp for menswear! This look was beckoning for a 70’s hippie revival and is inspired by Andrew Vanwyngarden from MGMT. I haven’t seen anyone else pull off technicolour ponchos, patterned headbands, face and body paint since…well, the 70’s! I channeled the stocking print for a feathered poncho, mixed the bracelets to create a necklace, with embellished indigo bell bottoms, golden flip flops and a tambourine for good measure. Peace, baby! | Adobe Photoshop

Day 20  |  Buy print
My original outfit: I wore this all black outfit for a shopping event. I'm wearing a bow headband, lacy long sleeve shirt under a silky mock corset, mini skirt, seamed fishnets and leather boots. Fire engine red lips and nails complete the look.

Reinterpretation: My take on the little black dress. Mock corset is now a silky dress with elegant lace overlay and a back flap for extra billowing, headband is a head wrap, and boots are classic black heels with ankle straps. Lips and nails remain the same. | Adobe Photoshop

Day 21  |  Buy print
My original outfit: Ever the colour lover, I stepped out in this bright number comprised of a pink dress worn over a light blue and pink stripe shirt, cyan stockings, grey ribbed leg warmers and light pink sneakers. Finishing touches are a cameo hair clip and necklace by Toronto's Fashion Whore.

Reinterpretation: I liked this outfit so much I did two revamps, one for menswear and one for womenswear! This time, I based the models on two of my dearest friends Carlo and Selena. Since it's currently back-to-school season I channeled fun and preppy looks for the school yard. For Carlo, the leg warmers are now a cozy sweater, stockings are shorts, shirt is an ombre v-neck, the cameo is a brooch and repeating pattern on the shirt, and all is finished with loafers for footwear. On Selena, the red / blue stripes make a plaid vest-dress with a cyan waist belt, light blue dress shirt, knee high socks and heeled boot versions of the sneakers. Cameo accessories are revamped as a headband and bracelet. | Adobe Photoshop

Day 22  |  Buy print
My original outfit: I fondly wore this outfit to high tea with my friend Yien one afternoon. I'm decked out in a canary yellow jacket with rabbit fur trim, blue floral babydoll dress, a single turquoise hair bow clip, pearls, white stockings and the trusty brogues again.

Reinterpretation: This is an homage to Japanese Harajuku street style namely Sweet Lolita fashion. My friend Hyein dresses in this style so she's a real-life inspiration behind the look. I chose model Devon Aoki to embody the look because of her sweet, doll-like features. The blue floral pattern is used for the headdress and corset, white stockings become a romantic shirt, canary hue is used for a puffy skirt, bow clips adorn the headdress and skirt, pearls are worn as a bracelet and brogues become over-the-knee platform boots. | Adobe Photoshop

Day 23  |  Buy print
My original outfit: This outfit was styled around the navy sweater I picked up from a vintage shop in LA. I found the DIY-esque slashing of this 90's graphic style Disney shirt too funny and enigmatic to resist. Underneath I'm wearing a chartreuse body con dress, pink and black leopard stockings, black and white polka dot leg warmers, and pink jelly sandals. The look is finished off with pink rimmed sunglasses and another gem of a hair clip from Fashion Whore.

Reinterpretation: This is obviously a loud outfit with the sheer volume of neon colours and patterns galore, which is why it lent well to the style of singer M.I.A. I've always admired her bold choices and created this revamp with her in mind. The leg warmers are recycled into a cropped hoodie with a chartreuse front pocket and pink leopard trimming, the pink hue of the jelly sandals is now a slinky turtleneck dress, and the stockings are a rework of the colours and crescent-shaped slashes in the sweater. The volume gets turned even higher with yellow boots and chunky sunglasses. | Adobe Photoshop

Day 24  |  Buy print
My original outfit: Not only am I a fan of Imogen Heap's music, I also adore her fashion sense. Always unique and delightful in floral prints, voluminous skirts and warm hues, she's the inspiration behind this look. I'm wearing a beige shirt with shiny shoulder embellishments, a pin-stripe white vest, pink floral print skirt, layered stockings, and beige strappy heels. The look is completed with flower hair pins, brooches and an arm warmer.

Reinterpretation: I attended Imogen's concert and this is my take on her outfit that night (circa 2006). I kept her signature loose updo with a headband recycled from the stocking pattern, a cropped jacket marrying elements from the vest and shirt, A-line floral print dress plus shiny embellishments, red crinoline, over-the-knee socks reworked from the arm warmer, and boots stemming from the heels. The flower pins are now brooches, and the brooches are now rings. | Adobe Photoshop

Day 25  |  Buy print
My original outfit: It's monochrome day! I'm stepping out in a grey headband, blue plaid shirt under a blue cropped knit vest, high-waisted blue and white polka dot shorts, thigh-high grey socks, and blue and white striped peep-toe wedges.

Reinterpretation: The inspiration here is the first ladies' wardrobe: smart jackets, elegant silhouettes and fancy head wear! The revamp sees a cropped jacket in the plaid pattern but with a tweed fabric, knit vest is now a dress, and the headband and shorts material merge to create the clutch at hand. The outfit is finished with sheer stockings, nude heels and a whimsical fascinator in the shape of a button from the vest. | Adobe Photoshop

Day 26  |  Buy print
My original outfit: I'm wearing a purple headband with white polka dots, teal sports jacket, purple shorts, gold leggings, grey socks with white frills, and mint sneakers. I wore this to play tennis (poorly) once although the gold leggings weren't part of the original getup.

Reinterpretation: Due to the garish colour palette, this was the perfect chance to make an avant garde look inspired by Grace Jones and the great 80's. The sports jacket and gold leggings fuse together to create a body suit, arm warmer, head piece and anklet, and the shorts transform into knee pads. The mint hue of the sneakers is now the shade of the nail colour. | Adobe Photoshop

- Featured on à la mode
Day 27  |  Buy print
My original outfit: Oh yes, I sported the China doll / Louise Brooks haircut back in the day! And I quite like it worn with my black Peter Pan collar shirt with white stripes, green mini-skirt with white stripes (actually a child's x-large skirt scoured from a vintage shop), sheer black polka dot stockings, and red waist belt and flats.

Reinterpretation: I did a vintage look inspired by the 50's with a modern edge. The skirt is turned into a cardigan with green and white chevron stripes, the shirt is now a black full skirt with white stripes graduating in thickness, sheer stockings are now gloves, while red heels and a flower brooch complete the look. The strawberry blonde bob adds the final touch! | Adobe Photoshop

- Featured on à la mode
Day 28  |  Buy print
My original outfit: Since I'm not a huge fan of wearing scarves around my neck, I'm wearing this bright floral one as a headband. I'm also sporting a loose white shirt, black skinny jeans and brown boots. The look is accessorized with a another headband worn around the neck, a horse chain necklace and a woven bracelet.

Reinterpretation: The model muse here is the young Kate Moss in her 90's glory. (Fun fact: Kate and I are the same height at 5'7!) The shirt is slashed and braided into a more chic version with an extra piece worn at the ankle. The floral pattern of the scarf is now a faded print for the denim shorts, the black of the jeans is a single stripe in the shorts, and the original accessories are recycled into new bracelets. | Adobe Photoshop

- Featured on à la mode
Day 29  |  Buy print
My original outfit: I'm channeling my wild side in a faux fur hat with ears, black and grey tiger stripes shirt with shoulder cut-outs, black pearls, bubble skirt, stockings, bracelet with golden studs and oxford shoes in ochre.

Reinterpretation: I created a swimsuit from the black and grey tones with ochre embellishments layered with an asymmetrical sheer lounge dress in the tiger print. A chunky black necklace, ochre bracelet, heels and turban completes the outfit. This look will surely add some animalistic grrr to the beach side! | Adobe Photoshop

Day 30  |  Buy print
My original outfit: I always thought army green and pale pink made a cute couple and that's what this outfit is based on. I'm decked out in a cropped army green jacket, mint tank top, pale pink ruffle skirt, magenta tights layered with large black fishnets, and green letter-camouflage pattern sneakers. I accessorized with a scarf, pink fingerless glove, Headmistress headband and brooch.

Reinterpretation: This look was created with my boyfriend Jack Shepherd in mind! I worked the jacket into a men's version, the skirt into rolled up jeans, the tank top into a henley, and the scarf pattern into a cardigan. Green loafers and a brown woven belt add the finishing touches. This was my way to add some pink to his wardrobe! | Adobe Photoshop
