Resonance
 
On May 28th, protests over the demolition of Taksim Gezi Park located in Istanbul, Turkey arose when 50 environmentalist publicly expressed their objection to the replacement of the space with the reconstruction of the historic Taksim Military Barracks and a potential shopping mall. When their sit-in strike was aggressively halted, it sparked a wide range of concerns which focused on issues of freedom of press, freedom of expression, freedom of assembly and the government’s encroachment on Turkey’s secularism. The following series showcases a layering of images taken during this time, provoking a visual expression of resonance.
