About Tear down
On a sunny morning, Bao, a little boy, was playing with his loving dog, Hei, in the backyard. However, the darkness hit, everything changed. The huge excavator struck in, the peace and quiet town was razed to the ground…
Tear Down is a 2D animated film showcased around the world, including Taiwan, France, Spain and Canada. The film is selected in film festivals such as 31th Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Market, 2016 Mice Mostra International Cinema Educatiu, 2016 KuanDu International Animation Festival, 2015 Vancouver Taiwanese Film Festival, 2015 Youth Generation Film Festival and won several animation awards.
Artist Statement
After growing up, do not change into the sort of man we have detested.
Inscribing our collective memories and warmth of relationships, the land where we live becomes the firmest anchor of our mind. It is what we call “home”. They claim that metropolis renewal will bring us more comfort and public interest. However, the Mother Nature raising us could be damaged by our greedy and unconscious of our behaviors. It will be the deepest regret if we grow into the ones we used to despise.
Always remember who we are.
Biography
With traditional painting experience over 15 years, Chen, PoChien is a computer animation artist making animated films with focus on our environment and human goodness. PoChien is currently studying Digital Creature Animation at Sheridan College in Canada, focusing on Look-Dev and rigging.
PoChien’s recent film, Selfish (2019), which talks about the marine debris issue, has been exhibited around the world and selected in several film festivals, such as Siggraph Asia 2019, London International Film Festival (LIAF), Edmonton International Film Festival (EIFF), Rhode Island International Film Festival (RIIFF), St. Louis International Film Festival (SLIFF) and won several animation awards.
