Package Design: A lesson in Budget and Creep

How much do you really need? What are the bare essentials you need in designing a package effectively? Limited to choosing cooking ingredients of either flour, oils, or spices, I chose to design a package for oat flour. Because the package innately had to be large, I had to find ways to prototype my design without spending hundreds of dollars. Each container costed about $32 dollars to print. After printing the first one, I learned about creep. I had to adjust sizing of the lid by a few percents to make it fit perfectly, so the box would have that perfect vacuum affect. Finally, the box is a glued together cross-shape. This made it particularly challenging to line up the oat plant that wraps around the box, for both the outside and the inserted inner box.
