PMEA 2019: Recognising excellence in improving patient outcomes
The 19th annual PMEA programme saw its highest number of entries yet.
The impressive achievements in pharmaceutical marketing excellence were recognised at the annual PMEAs at the Royal Lancaster London Hotel

PMEA recognises the achievements of responsible customer-centric business practices that provide patients with meaningful outcomes.
The programme reflects the dynamic healthcare environment and includes the industry’s development of new, intelligent ways to improve patient care and outcomes and provide greater value for healthcare providers and payers.
Each year, the programme is carefully reviewed to ensure that PMEA continues to recognise and commend excellence, best practice and innovation in local, European and international markets.

PMEA 2019 was launched earlier than previous years and we had some pre-launch campaigns across print and digital. These print adverts went into Pharmaceutical Market Europe (PME) and the Communiqué Awards event programme. For this year we also announced our keynote speaker, Mark Ormrod.
We stay active about PMEA on social media at various stages of the awards.
New this year, I introduced 'shortlisted' graphics to be emailed out to finalists when they are announced after judging day. These proved extremely popular on Linkedin and were also used on Twitter. Agencies used them on company pages as well as people using them on their personal profiles - this was great to see, and very encouraging for something new. They worked better than expected and I think because they were category specific, people were more open to shout about them!
Various signage on the night: pop ups, tent cards, menus, tickets and table numbers.
The digital table plan is displayed in the reception area, and then once the awards start, the sponsor loop comes on - which I created in Keynote.
New this year, we introduced highly commended mini trophies, as seen below, which carried the branding. The finalists receive a certificate in the post.
It is always such a pleasure to see the amount of coverage the awards gets, with this year being no exception.
The Keynote Speaker was Mark Ormrod, an ex-Royal Marine, Invictus Games competitor and author, who kicked off the night with a moving and inspiring view of his life since being injured. The main awards ceremony was hosted by broadcaster and presenter Fergus Walsh.
