Solace
Solace was a bushfire relief fundraiser organised by Sydney's local music event crews Assembl, Free House, Lovejoy, Nerve, Touch of Loft and Undisclosed. Local clothing brand Solace also set up a stall with a charity raffle for a selection of their clothes.

Almost $5000 was raised and went directly to the NSW Rural Fire Service and organisation GIVIT for disaster relief in the areas and communities affected.

For the event art I wanted to make it clear what it was for a fire relief fundraiser party. but I didn't want to have any imagery of the bush fire crisis because it would have been insensitive towards those directly affected.

Native Australian gum tree surrounded by a hazy sky turned out to be the perfect backdrop for the artwork. The red sun as it had appeared for weeks shining through the smoke of the bush fires was incorporated as part of the word Solace.

Much of Sydney's population watched the natural disaster unfold from a distance in the calm. This artwork represented exactly that and reminded us that we are very fortunate and that we can collectively give something to the firefighters and people affected.

This event and the money raised was merely a humble contribution amongst many similar efforts from Australian citizens and people around the world, but every bit counts and we are grateful for everyone that got involved.
