Helping Empower Women-A project which aims to empower women in rural India by providing them financial literacy and financial security.

This was my post graduation project done during Masters course at Birmingham City University, UK. A proposed design for BANK by the women, for the women of the women.

HER (Helping Empower Rural) Bank-A financial institution which will provide financial services for women along with facilities such as skill enhancement classes, providing financial literacy sessions and an experience center for motivation and inspiration,

Multi functional space- conducting literacy sessions, meetings, workshops, screening motivational videos. The space is inspired from step-well seating which allows for inclusive arrangement and relates to the culture and environment of rural India.

The Banking space- the space is designed to give a feminine, warm and friendly feel unlike the corporate bank interiors which are intimidating to the rural Indian women. The space is designed using local materials such as Bamboo and wood. The use of Indian fabrics relates to women and Indian culture, making the space look inviting and friendly. The paintings and wall hangings made by local women decorate the space reminding women of their skills. The hanging lamp in the center of the space is a laser cut logo converted into the lamp. 

The Logo of the Bank is derived from the symbol of self-help groups and rangoli / mandala art. The 6 values of the BANK are represented in the LOGO - Support, Literacy, Motivation, Development, Dignity and Security. The BANK aims to provide these 6 values through their services and products.

Over view of the Bank - Ground floor consists of The Banking space, The skill enhancement room, literacy room. The top floor provides a multifunctional space and a small area for meeting / recreation for the Bank Employees.
