Originaly having picked a country at random for the first round of this series, I selected Yemen. Although I loved the image researched for that country I was led through some random connection to African masks. These are stylized illustrations drawn from real life examples of ceremonial masks.
The ink blobs were sumi ink loosely painted on watercolor paper and then colored in Photoshop to the correct hue.
