I wanted to make a scene based mostly on matte painting techniques I rarely use on architectural renders. I chose a fantasy scene from The Silmarillion to pay homage to Christpher Tolkien, who passed away recently. His and his father's work is very dear to me, so I hope to keep making more works inspired by them.
