Gap Ad - Branding Study

After going through a few magazines and looking at fashion ad after fashion ad of women who look unpleasant, banal, and overly processed I began to think about how someone would convey the feeling of comfort through visual imagery and design for a brand. How do you make a female model or a woman look comfortable? Picking a company I thought closely conveyed my sentiments I went with Gap for the mock ad and found a model. After the photo shoot the image below kind of spoke to the model and myself as to how natural and at ease she looked. Framing the image in a slight white border and going with a lighter weight of Avenir kerned slight open made the typography and imagery blend well while conveying the comfort I was searching for.
