Lianzhou International Photo Festival 08. China
Slices of the real. Even though the photographic print is flat and thin it contains a multitude of dimensions. The lack of physical body is compensated by the richness and seemingly endless variations of the possible image. These artists are all - in their own way - stretching, bending, exploring and playing with the photographic medium and it´s boundaries. They are visually working with the foreground/background, shadows and reflexions. They all work with the pictorial space and depth and turn it into stories and new meanings. They silently express certain ways of seeing and looking at spacial dimensions. They go beyond the predictable and their ambiguity invites the viewer one step further, opening imaginative doors and exploring the essence of photography.
