The design composition used here is an early project in type exploration. One of the project prerequisites was to integrate the use of an ampersand. I wanted to give some subtle, but literal courtesy to the meaning behind the ampersand rather than treating it as a mere character. Who doesn't love coffee & donuts? The composition was primarily executed in photoshop. I made a low-opacity ampersand layer derived from a favorited typeface. I then constructed a donut piece-by-piece in the shape of the underlying layer. The simplicity and subtle literal meaning make this a strong composition.
