Photobook ‚YatFTIL‘

YatFTIL
|You are the Fear that I Lost|
(2017-2018)

Photo book was made within studying course of graphic design in School of Visual communication.

Project Author - Svitlana Levchenko, artist, that works with photography and curator, based in Kyiv, Ukraine.

This project illustrates her own searches of true self. Through purification and refinement, she returns to her primordial state. She let go of everything that is unsubstantial.
Main themes of her reasoning and observations are freedom and choice. Svitlana is watching and familiarizing if stereotypes seen by her are imposed by surroundings, or perhaps they are a natural part of herself.

For the cover I chose a picture by Svitlana with a closed jar. Front’s cover show the jar’s bottom, symbolizing her inner constriction at the beginning of this project. On the back cover you can partly see lid as a reference to author’s exemption.

Svitlana Levchenko about her project:
"Woman is the basis of the Universe. The core of the Universe wrapped in the dirty rags of stereotypes, social roles, imposed ideals, nurtured complexes. All these stuff splits the True Woman. This project is a therapeutic study, the study of internal context, which was examined on the global map of corporality, getting rid of complexes, depending on the world of men, searching for inner beauty. As a child, I often heard "you are not beautiful, you are pretty," I grew up with this knowledge, it became an indisputable axiom. A true woman is perfect. And 'perfect' is wider than just 'beautiful'. There are objectively perfect things, and their beauty is not in subjective empirical perception, but in their essence, in the purpose of existence. With the help of an associative series, I illustrate the search for the True Woman in myself."
