- Home Based Women
- Workers is fighting
- for the legal
- rights of Women
- who get less
- paid for their
- work by the
- Government and the
- employers. On the
- eve of 8th
- March International Women's
- Day HBWWA organized
- a protest for
- the working women's
- rights. The poster
- was designed to
- raise the voice
- against injustice.
- Globalization and WTO’s
- polices are making
- adverse effect on
- labor class
- especially
- on females workers
- in informal sector
- such as home
- based workers
- IN
- the shape of
- high unemployment
- Vulnerable
- working condition
- no
- health and social
- security
- low wage
- long working hours
- and high rate
- violence at work
- place. Even the
- Labour laws of
- the country do
- not recognize Informal
- and home-based worker
- and their work.
- The basic reason
- is that informal
- workers are not
- organized and less
- aware about their
- rights
- so not
- in a position
- to grape their
- due right from
- the Government and
- the employers.
- During the last
- few decades informal
- worker are increasing
- due to the
- policies of free
- trade by multinational
- and imperialist states
- in which they
- get high profit
- and provide less
- benefits to the
- workers. Neo-Liberalism agenda
- is the key
- component of the
- IMF
- WB
- WTO
- and ADB which
- is implemented by
- undemocratic and military
- government on the
- Third world countries
- like Pakistan. Due
- to these policies
- government sell out
- all the public
- assets which is
- resulted in high
- unemployment rates
- introduce
- contract system
- cut
- in social sector
- high poverty and
- inflation and growth
- of the informal
- sector.
- More then 70%
- women and children
- especially girl child
- are engaged with
- informal sector workers.
- The reason behind
- this is that
- women are less
- aware and unorganized
- in our society
- and our values
- customs and religion
- halt the mobility
- of the women
- which gives benefits
- to the imperialist
- and capitalist society
- to exploit them
- more in terms
- of paying fewer
- wage
- no job
- long working
- hours and no
- benefits such as
- health and education.

- Based Women Workers
- Association (HBWWA) has
- been working with
- informal sector workers
- especially the garment
- textile and bangle
- industries workers since
- long. In the
- process of work
- HBWWA conducted a
- survey
- numbers of
- meetings and training
- sessions to get
- know about their
- problems and evolves
- ways to organized
- them on one
- platform. As a
- result of all
- these activities “Home
- based Women Worker
- Center Association (HBWWA)
- formed in 2006
- and raises their
- voices. During that
- process we came
- in contact with
- some NGO’s who
- are keenly interested
- to organize informal
- sector workers especially
- workers.
- core
- groups: Two types
- of core group
- functioning under HBWWA
- one local core
- group member and
- other one is
- provincial core group.
- local
- core group members:
- This
- group comprises with
- the prominent people
- of the localities
- where the cooperatives
- exists. Local core
- group members playing
- important role in
- solving the issues
- of home based
- women workers in
- the areas. This
- group support informal
- workers to protect
- their rights and
- create the sense
- that they are
- with them.
- Community activities
- councilors
- youth groups
- CBOs and home
- based workers are
- in that group.
- They also give
- their suggestion to
- improve the work
- in the community.
- provincial
- core group:
- This group
