Princeton Disability Awareness Hosts Annual Carnivals

A former associate with H.I.G. Capital, Benjamin Spacapan is currently pursuing JD and MBA degrees at Harvard Law School and Harvard Business School. During his four years as an undergraduate at Princeton University, Benjamin Spacapan volunteered with Princeton Best Buddies and Princeton Disability Awareness.

Founded by several students in 2007, Princeton Disability Awareness (PDA) focuses on education and inclusion through signature events such as a fall and spring carnival on the Princeton campus. The bi-annual event invites children to attend festivities that include arts and crafts, sports, and performances by student groups, and maintains a one-to-one volunteer to child ratio. Volunteers complete training and receive specific information on the child they are accompanying. While children are enjoying activities, parents can attend an informational conference featuring Princeton faculty and staff and other experts in the field of disability. Past keynote speakers include Special Olympics medal winner Emily Srebro and award-winning memoirist Rachel Adams.
