It's one of the three main gates of old Cairo which was used in earlier times to look for enemy troops in the outside countryside but now it hosts a spectacular view. It features the story of the six messengers of the Mongol leader Hulagu who were killed and had their heads displayed on the gate by Qutuz the Mamluk.
