OCRF - Detect the Artist

From an Olympic gymnast, to a radio host and a heavy metal rocker, the list of hidden talents in Clemenger BBDO Melbourne grows every year. This year however, instead of just being the subject of conversation and office trivia, we thought why not put their skills to good use?

With an eclectic mix of illustrators, photographers and painters on our doorstep –the ‘Detect the Artist’ initiative was born…

Every ten hours one woman in Australia dies of ovarian cancer. Without an early detection test and with few distinct symptoms, most women can only be diagnosed when the cancer has become too advanced.

A silent auction with a twist, the event encouraged staff to ‘Help find an early detection test by detecting the artist.’ To make it even harder the ten artworks were wrapped in brown paper with only a series of cryptic clues about the artists - identifying each masterpiece.  After a lot of detective work, the artists and their artwork were revealed to a packed room on the 26th of October, 2012.

Through ‘Detect the Artist’ we were able to raise awareness about the ‘silent killer’ and $4,970 for the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation.
Invite to the event left on staff members desks.
The artworks hanging up at the start of the week.
The artworks started to be revealed and after seeing parts of the work and using our clues, staff started to guess which piece they wanted to bid on.
We eventually fully revealed the artwork, showing that the more information you have the easier it is to detect the artist.
Which allowed us to teach everyone the importance of finding an early detection test for ovarian cancer.
We finished with ten happy staff members owning a new piece of artwork and $4,970 for the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation.
