For the 2013 D&AD Student Awards I entered the It's Nice That Brief, which set the task of finding a way for It;s Nice That to engage with a student audience.

 

I created the It’s Nice That Student Network, which is a website and app, that combines social media with a virtual learning environment, to provide a platform for creative students to share, collaborate, develop and learn.

 

Students will be invited to join the course network where they can connect with other students, and contact their tutors and lecturers, either through the internal messaging system, or by posting on the network’s newsfeed. The work posted on the It’s Nice That website will be integrated into the newsfeed, so that students can be inspired and keep updated on all aspects of the art and design world.

 

As well as  being a powerful internal tool the portal also acts as a global platform for like minded, creative individuals to view, admire and critique shared work whilst discussing and collaborating on projects.

As well as a social platform, the INT Student Network will also act as a virtual learning system, where students can find their timetable, project briefs, and lecture notes.

 

Spending time working together in studio is vital for art and design students, and one of the main goals of the project is to enhance this studio culture. As well as students being able to connect online, to share ideas, questions, and feedback, we want to encourage student’s to go into studio more often. To do this, I have created a check in function, which allows students to find out who is working in the studio at that moment in time, and which lecturers and technical tutors are available.
