Meter Down is a Computer Game based on Karachi where actions taken within the game succeed or fail according to a formal system of rules and guidelines. This 2D Platformer gives the player a choice of four different local characters to play with. The style of game play is linear and progressive. The player will assume the role of the character and act out certain assigned tasks. The big idea behind the game is to contribute to the society and fight the problems of Karachi even if the player is a common man with no authority or super power.
The game starts with a story about how Karachi, once the city of lights, has fallen into darkness after evil took over it, draining away its vivacity and colors. To restore the colors and life of Karachi, the evil must be confronted and defeated. The game comprises of four levels which are divided according to different areas of the city. In each level a villain, representing some problem of Karachi, must be defeated.
The purpose of the game is to provide entertainment while promoting and exploring Karachi’s culture through the display of landmarks, sites and important structures. Hence, the game shall also aim to capture the true ambience of one of the world’s largest metropolises while identifying and bringing forth its problems.
