The Last Days of Judas Iscariot

The Last Days Of Judas Iscariot
Conceptualization:
Our ideation started with what types of color to use on the cover, since the book takes place in purgatory, which has been described as nothingness or and empty void, it would make sense that the color scheme would be bland and lifeless. We also gave thought to how we wanted to hierarchy of the piece to be ordered and after some discussion, we came to the conclusion that Judas would have the most priority on the cover because people know that more than the rest of the rest of the title.
In our sketches we thought that the back cover should feature a cross in some way because of the play's ties to religion and catholicism. In the end we decided on the design with a noose hanging in front of the cross because Judas hung himself because he was guilty about giving Jesus to the Romans.
Research:
We really liked the bleak and lifeless colors we were finding when we researched purgatory and decided to work with the colors in the bottom right of this photo grid as we moved on in our design.
Book Layout:
Book Cover:
The final front cover features the title as the first in the hierarchy of the design, it is supposed to draw the attention of the reader into the middle of the cover before they look anywhere else on the page. We also include the clouds and fires as a recurring pattern across the whole work.
