One of my grandfathers, IVAN Anisimovich Bogdanov (1926), born in Voronezh province, married to ANNA Nikolayevna Alferova (1930) of Kuban’ Cossacks, made a military career and served in Caucasus region over 1944-1951. The other grandfather, STEPAN Filippovich Ponitkov (1909), was a railroader, married to MARIA Grigorievna Aksenova (1912), when not at service, earned for living by tailoring clothes.
My mother, EUGENIA Ivanovna Bogdanova (1953), was one of the 3 children in the family, spent her early ages in the Southern Russia and headed to Moscow to study. Graduated from the University of Cooperation of Russia; faculties of Economics (‘Economist of Higher Category’) and Pedagogic (‘Teacher of Economical Discipline in Middle Educational Institutions’. My father, VASILIY Stepanovich Ponitkov (1951), was born in Ozhereliye, Moscow oblast and was one of the 7 children. Graduated from the Moscow State Mining University as a mechanical engineer. Apart from engineering, he was keen on stenography, pyrography and learning Esperanto. Having married after university in Moscow in 1976, a year after my parents headed to Stary Oskol of Belgorod region to work under a compulsory state ‘distribution programme’ for university graduates.
There I was born, in December 28, 1980 as the second child and am now one of the 5 children in the family. Though I graduated from the Faculty of Roman-Germanic Philology, the talent for art they recognized in early childhood and at the age of 9 I entered the local school of fine-arts. Even in the earliest works I exhibited talent for drawing and idiosyncratic style (later called by my teacher of fine-arts ‘Vrubel’s style’). Most of my paintings trace their history back to the university times, when they would be given to friends as presents.
After my graduation I went to South Africa by a working contract. The country stroke me with the variety of nature and how skillfully it served for both nationalities living on that ginger soil, eating reddish mangoes under +28 on the new year's eve... I could hardly see anything out of my window because of the lianas of granadilla, and the huge black-beetles I would see in the kitchen cabinets never resembled me of cockroaches. Mornings I would sit under a date-palm with a cup of coffee and would know what that tree was when the fruit already looked like it was in the supermarket... Upon termination of that contract I continued travelling around the world on business and for pleasure and have brought a drawing from each trip, inspired by the seen & experienced...by work, people, languages, sports, nature and by everything else. There will be more I will wish to share…
"Art struggles to bring the soul into illusion, to awaken it from the little things with majestic images..." (Mikhail Vrubel)
Fine arts help me to shape the thought.
Once it is ready to be refined, I shift from slate to colour.
my style predestines the colour of the shape.
welcome to my portfolio!
Have you ever been to a village store? You can find everything on one counter. My younger sister Alexandra was turning 4. It was a difficult choice: sweets were mouth-watering, beads were flickering…either option was tempting. The ‘precious’ beads I used in the picture, bought in the village store, I thought, were right for the special one, my little Sasha! The rests of tissues given by mom for my dolls’ dresses I sacrificed as well.
Tousled blondes × 2, disheveled auburns × 2; inseparable & individual; similar & particular; like many others & unique.
To mom and dad devoted. 2 × 2 =
The ‘angel’ was inspired by my parents, superior to humans in power and intelligence; astonishing how eternal these can be…funny, though, that they’ve lived to make out of their kids true humans & persons. :)
Sanguine is all about wine. The stroke it leaves on paper is thick and intense; the unkempt grape vines meeting in a glass of the lady… I’d rather put it Lady, meticulous and, therefore, impeccable in everything she prefers. Craft. For my youngest sister Valeria.
July thrusts you into a whirl of emotions with its dazzling concordance in allure of flowers tied with grass blades into brooches…all of the fine jewellery embedded for my beloved sister Zhenya... for her birthday in August.
Vivid demeanor - the ‘New Look’; no critic in the world of fashion can let it up; for over half a century already... Luxury goods, perfume, fancy articles… Sasha is no longer the little princess my mom ‘bought in a shop…’ 30 years ago, but a real Miss. I’ve drawn her ‘Dior’.
With love and admiration! ... я нарисовала ей ‘Dior’.
