Mortar & Pencil is a creative playground for the internet. Participants retain copyright to their respective works.

Every wednesday Mortar & Pencil will post a new creative challenge with varying degrees of difficulty, and news about creative challenges around the web. The leaderboard will be reset every season (4 times a year / every 3 months) and the winner will receive a gift from Mortar & Pencil.

 

Designers, artists, and those yearning to step outside their daily routine can take an hour to challenge their minds to create something great. Participants are encouraged to include a link to their website or portfolio. Mortar & Pencil will also work with participants to promote their website or portfolio.

 

We might have prizes for single competitions, and in the future, host challenges for the benefit of non-profit organizations.

 

Other than the hosting of the site and lots of hours invested, Mortar & Pencil is an experiment into the possibility of building a popular website for free. The site runs on the WordPress platform, with a free theme, and third-party plugins.

 

This site is just for fun. Mortar & Pencil will not use participants works/creations for any use or financial benefit unless previously agreed upon by both parties. Currently, the only profit will come from ads on the site.
