We took a drive to Treasure Island, home of a former Naval Station and the Golden Gate International Exposition in 1939 and 1940. The San Francisco Bay Bridge crosses the intersection of Treasure Island and Yurba Buena island in the middle of the San Francisco Bay.

I didn't know anything about this piece of art when I saw it but I knew I had to take some snapshots.

It turns out that this particular sculpture (for lack of a better word) which is 40 feet tall and made of steel rod and tubing utilizing two layers of geodesic triangles, is named "Bliss Dance" and debuted at Burning Man in 2010 and has been installed on the island since 2011.

The project is dedicated to eliminating violence against women. Read more about it here: http://www.blissdance.us/#/426926/Home

It was a hazy day, but this angle also gives you a shot of the Golden Gate Bridge in the background.
She looks a lot different when the sun is not shining through her.
To give you an idea of just how tall 40 feet is, I took this just before I politely asked them to move for a moment so I could get all of her in the frame.
