Peças de Memória
Sliding Puzzle for Cognitive and Speech Stimulation
Project integrated in a Collaborative Protocol with Alzheimer Portugal
The project developed consists of a game for therapeutic and stimulation purposes in the context of social intervention. Its objective practice of recovery of memories where the ability to describe, assimilate and interpret is tested and worked between two actors, the patient and the technician (therapist / technician / psychologist). The practice of the game aims to stimulate psychomotor and recover memories (emotional, physical, temporal or other recoverable), a stimulation of new topics of discussion and conversation, increasing use in oral communication and recovery exercise of different types of memory, encouraging its use in a logic of prevention and simultaneoustraining intervention and cognitive stimulation. Gameplay consists of interaction (omission-revelation) of sliding pieces with variable dimension over a background image (for example, family photos or others).
Expected results
The results they want to achieve are memory recovery, a stimulation of new topics for discussion and conversation, promote greater efficiency in oral communication and recovery exercise of different types of patient's memory, encouraging its use in a logic of prevention, training intervention and cognitive stimulation.
Achieved results
Through technical evaluation reports, handling and gameplay were analysed by health experts. Experts found that compared to previous practices there was an increase in: descriptive capacity, memory stimulation (life and emotions), development of visual perception, eye-hand coordination, greater dynamics in oral communication, concentration capacity and combinatory construction capacity (inductive reasoning ability).Through technical evaluation reports, handling and gameplay were analysed by health experts.
