Early Paintings
These paintings from 2012 show an early interest in the depiction of injury and design through painting. They are taken from a collection of black and white photographs from an archive of medical imagery.
I was interesting in depicting these anonymous and mysterious figures in a more emotive way, while keeping the anonymity that they had, and trying to create universal images of injury that anybody who had been through some kind of physical trauma could relate to.
These are the beginnings of the strand that still continues to work through my work to this day.
