Royal Docks :

As a group we were given the location Royal docks & the theme being connect.
We researched into the area and further looked at maps and selected locations we thought would fit some ideas we were bouncing around.
Our first idea was connecting the architecture with the people in the area, we planned to achieve this by using old building as a back drop and someone from the younger generation to represent the connection & on the flip slide using new luxury apartments and someone from the older generation to again show a connection.

We had our first location trip on Wednesday 2nd September at 11:30AM and found a lot of buildings with potential to be used for our shoots we also came across a bridge we thought would be a good way to link the two concepts in the series.

After our first location trip we ended up coming up with a lot more ideas and decided to go with a new idea as we felt like it was identifying a bigger issue within the area.
This being social housing crisis and how affordable the new housing is for the local people.
with this idea we are gonna capture the ghost like feel of the area and how isolated it really feels there also seems to be a lack of sense of community.
I suggested we play on the word connect which was our given theme and call the series dis-connect as it felt like the people were not connected to their area and wasn't lived in.

on our second trip we decided to explore the thames barrier park and the hotels in custom house which helped us find a lot of crowds to talk to about what it is they were doing there to which almost all replied they had travelled quite far for a event at the exel centre a few people had even travelled from other countries for the event which helped us understand what the regeneration did for that area, as we walked away from the centre we walked past 6 different hotels on each side of the street at well as 2 on the river itself again showing us tourist and events are the main income for this area, further showing the lack of attention towards the affordable housing crisis.
