Glossolalia is an experimental animation predicated on a digitally simulated soundscape. An azure plank is situated within a sterile void of white space. The sound of what could be interpreted as the natural world hums lightly—offering a sense of tranquility. However, every minute fluctuation of movement suggests an ambivalence surrounding this world and its alleged purity. As the piece progresses, the sense of calm is disturbed, the audio obtrusive. Gradually defecting, the imagery loses sensibility in itself and those observing. Eventually the viewer is situated within a stifling silence.
Using a cycle of audio visualization to continually distort an animation of water, this ethereal realm questions the authenticity of the screen as applies to the natural world, and the authenticity of the human being as we relate to the screen.
