CIVILIZED ROBOTS

Civilized Robots is a family friendly card game designed for children ages 8-12 where the goal is to collect different robot units to increase the functionality of their robot society. The objective was to design age appropriate Icons that easily represent an occupation. The style of the overall concepts and designs also needed to be iconic and easily recognizable as a set.

SCETCHES
To start off I wanted each design to follow a specific theme, so I began by exploring the overall connecting features and Silhouettes. I then picked out and built upon the sketches that shared a more cohesive design and scrapped or overhauled other Ideas that didn’t.

VECTOR DRAFTS
The Vector drafts were something very Basic, but I knew that I wanted to work with thick, heavy lines that gave a more stylistic/ Animation look. Working on the computer also allowed me to really see if the direction that I was going was good or not.
THE POWER OF CRITIQUE
Critiques from my peers have helped me to review my concepts and stay on target with the overall objective. From there, I continued through my process until my concepts were matching my vision.
Meeting Objectives
Let's break down how the final concepts met the project objectives. Each icon is easily recognizable and go together. The designs are also quirky enough to entertain the desired age group, without necessarily excluding other ages. Each icon also incubuses a noticeable occupation that is easy to pick out at a glance, removing any visual frustration during gameplay.
