DUBWISE
Entry for the 2013 International Reggae Poster Contest (IRPC).
Founded by Michael Thompson and Maria Papaefstathiou in 2011, the poster contest was primarily organised to showcase a vision for a world-class Reggae Hall of Fame museum in Kingston, Jamaica. The annual contest also highlights the global significance and resounding impact of reggae music while raising awareness and funding for the Alpha Boys School located in Jamaica.
Dubwise is a phrase that emerged from Jamaican original dub music. It loosely describes the emphasis of the deep bassline that caresses segments of a dub track.
I envisioned the image as a 'Deity of Dub' that would bring forth a kind of musical nirvana through the powers of drum and bass. Dubwise was placed 4th out of 1100 poster entries.
