I was asked by the owner of TiLite to create a special Black Edition of the TR, one of TiLite’s flagship chairs. The challenge was to create a chair that was almost all black and carried minimal new parts to inventory.
  
I created a pattern that would be etched into the paint on the frame. The pattern was a derivative from the concept of “what’s in a name”. The letters of the name/logo were used to create the pattern.

I also developed a powder coat treatment that would allow us to have a glossy pattern with a matte frame.

A real carbon fiber material back stripe along with a grayscale logo patch were used to set off the upholstery.
 
Some of the other finishing touches were: Custom stainless quick release axels, matte black footrest and black soft roll casters.

The chair was a huge success. Somehow word got out and we had orders before the chair had even been released or seen.
