“The air ripens. And the air is full of spices. The meat is ready when the weather is right. Because we live in Hemsedal we use what we have, which is the abundance of natural air”.

Spekeloftet
Curing has been the dominant method of meat preservation for thousands of years. Since 1994 Spekeloftet (The storehouse), a small local business in Hemsedal, Norway has kept this old tradition alive. Its location in the mountains between east and west creates excellent conditions for curing meat. Here, the western winds with its salty moisture meets the dry winds from the east and make it possible to cure and dry the meat naturally without usage of artificial curing chambers.

The design plays on the fact that this is a hand crafted and traditional product using typography and the text written in Hemsedal-dialect, as the main conceptual idea itself to get the feel of clean air.

The packaging materials of plastic and cardboard are specially selected for enviromently friendly recycling
