Io non sono Islam - Graphic Novel

“Io non sono Islam” is a graphic novel by Benedetta Argentieri and Sara Gironi Carnevale, published by Magazzini Salani.
It tells the true story of Islam Mitat, “from Western dream to the hell of Sharia”.
Oujda, Morocco – Islam Mitat is a girl like many other. She’s 19, she believes in real love and she has a dream: move to London to study fashion design. Her father is a policeman, her mother is a housewife; they’re moderate muslims, they respect traditions, but they live everyday life in a modern way. Despite that, they’ll never allow their daughter to leave alone, on her way to a foreign country. They believe in her and they don’t want to repress her ambitions, but to leave her family house Islam has to find a husband first. She knows that and, on a dating website, she meets Ahmed, a young Afghan with British citizenship, nice looking and with a Western look. But what seemed to be the first step towards her dream will turn into the beginning of a nightmare that will last three years, lived as a prisoner inside the Islamic State.
Out on September 19th.
