DGDESIGN supported LiuGong's inhouse team by developing exterior bodywork A-surfaces used to manufacture pre-production All-electric WLS machine launched at BICES show September 2019.

I was Senior Designer on this project, responsible for all Alias 3D design work, ID project management, VR assessment, press-pack still images and vRED animation output.

"These Generation-1 machines were designed to be built quickly and easily using zero tooling and some carried over components, and many of the surfaces are planar.  The result is a stealthy and brutal aesthetic that is 100% driven by function - very Dieter Rams!"   Gary Major - Director of Industrial Design, LiuGong

Some high-level project statistics for reference:

Very short gestation period: 29/04-10/05 (10 working days)
7 Alias iterations completed & actively circulated amongst stakeholders to refine concept and finalise details.
206 emails exchanged.
Stakeholder alignment: 2.5 hours spent screen-share reviewing CAD iterations to ensure Client 100% happy & fully in the loop.
vRED worked into development script on a daily basis: to test appearance and ergo in VR, prove out sight-lines & blind-spots via shadow plots, and provide higher quality WIP images to summarise design intent.
75.5 hours Industrial Design time in total.
