MEDITATION RETREAT
For AR 201, we had to design a meditation retreat center for 12 people located at Otay Lake Chula Vista, CA. I chose to use mass, geometry, and light to manipulate shadows. I created unique architectural spatial elements. While walking through the meditation retreat center, you will experience a sense of peace, as well as experience the visually appealing aspects of the light and shadows playing off of the structure. While people arrive toward their sleeping cells, they will have a view of the mountains and lake. Throughout the day, the sunlight reflects off of the long narrow pool that guides you towards the garden or the kiva. Some of the passages will guide you to look at unique spatial depths which are created by angles and shadows. These passages will guide you to see a perspective vanishing point.
