A journey in the Land of the Rising Sun

A journey in the Land of the Rising Sun
A series of photos from Japan.

I still remember the first time traveling to Japan, the atmosphere of Tokyo's vibrant urban landscape, the people, the service and hospitality, the dedication and energy each citizen puts on his work was astonishing. I remember discovering for the first time a country where creativity is embraced by the culture in most of life aspects, and that was an inspiring trigger that brought me back for a second time.

For my 3rd time travailing to the land of the rising sun (and for sure not the last!), I took a long vacation to discover different areas than the usual Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto… and I wasn’t disappointed, I took this time the challenge of bringing a new camera that I wasn’t used to yet (Fujifilm XT3 instead of my heavy Canon 5d3) and the experience of taking pictures was more pleasurable, the ergonomics of a lighter camera and compact gear helped me focusing on observing, feeling and then capturing the moment I was experiencing.

The journey took us fast from Tokyo to the south of Japan, we experienced FUJI Rock festival, and its amazing lineup, a few days after, we moved to Ishikawa Prefecture - Kanazawa, then Okayama. We continued towards Naoshima and Teshima, two islands known for their modern and contemporary art museums in a sort of Mediterranean Sea atmosphere, we discover some magnificent art pieces by prestigious artists: Tadao Ando, James Turrell, Rei Naito, Claude Monet, Yayoi Kusama, Walter De Maria, and by the end we left for Takamatsu where we took our flight back to shanghai.
