Icon Design and Animation

"Capture the unique quirky energy of San Fransisco in a visual manner and showcase the lively nature of the primary landmarks of the city."
The icons represent the main landmarks of San Fransisco: Golden Gate Bridge, Transamerica Pyramid, Chinatown Gate, Oakland Bay Bridge, Palace of Fine Arts Theatre, and Coit Tower.

I wanted to create icons that matched with each one of the landmarks unique structures but overall were visually cohesive to one another. A circular structure was created in order to achieve visual harmony throughout each icon. A heavy outline with gradient fills reflects the modern sleekness of the city while the quirky forms and elements encompass and capture what makes each landmark special in its own way. Abstracted forms of water, nature, and pavement were applied to each icon to showcase the geographic location of each landmark. Whether it is located over water, in the downtown area, or in a more located nearby a park area.
