This is an Urban Sustainable Farm, named “Seed of Life (SOL)”. SOL is located at Icon City, Bukit Mertajam. Icon City is only mere kilometers away from the Penang Bridge and Second Penang Bridge. It is located strategically in Bukit Mertajam. The building of this project is a 3 - storey Semi-Detached commercial building with a lift.
The main purpose of this project is to attracting the young generation to participate in agriculture and improve the image of agriculture through changing the traditional style to a new style of farming method and the application of new technologies instead of traditional technologies.
For the technologies used, aquaponics system and hydroponics system are both used in this project instead of using soil. These two types of system have many of benefits such as space saving, water efficient, few or non-pesticides, faster growth rate, higher vitamin & mineral content, and etc. Besides, the farming method used in this project is vertical farming, which is popular in foreign country and not in Malaysia. Vertical farming has many of benefits compared with the traditional method.
HOW THE SPACES DEVIDED
There are several main areas in this building. For the ground floor, there are communication & seating area, reception area, and agriculture gallery. For the mezzanine floor, there are small reception area, play & learn room, and a screening room. Furthermore, a consultation room, office and a meeting room is located on the first floor. For the top floor which is the second floor, there are retail area and farming area.

In conclusion, in addition to contributing to agriculture, this project can also meet the residents' demand for food and improve the health of residents. Besides that, young people will also change their perception about agriculture because this project does not need to be carried out under the scorching sun.
